I'm John Cruz. Your Library Tech

I am a library media technician for a middle school, and currently a student at San Jose State University.

About Me

I got my start working in an elementary school library often doing read aloud sessions with younger students. In 2015 I began working in the middle school setting and have not left since. At the middle school level I have held book talks with authors like D.J. MacHale, Shannon Messenger, and Debra Driza. I hold different seasonal events in the library, have a partnership with the public library hosting lunch time events, as well as supporting with technology and sound engineering. I am a graduate student at San Jose State University obtaining my Master’s degree in Library Information Science.

Tech Support
2018 - Present

I am the first person for technology support at my school site. I often troubleshoot internet issue, perform resets on laptops, as well as maintain the technology on campus i.e. Chromebooks, document cameras, projectors, smart boards etc. Over the summer I participated in my districts I.T. cross-training program where I was taught how to perform various repairs. Damaged chromebook screen replacements, key replacement, whole keyboard replacements, and replacing chromebook batteries, cameras, speakers.
